Credit Reports and your Private Information!
Mutual Savings Association will never sell your personal information. We have heard from a number of clients recently about phone calls they received soliciting them for credit cards or other loan products after they applied for a loan with Mutual Savings. The reason for this is their personal information was sold by the credit bureaus from which we pull our credit reports. Unfortunately, there is nothing Mutual Savings can do to prevent this from happening.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Consumer Credit Reporting Companies (EX: Equifax, Innovis, TransUnion, and Experian) are permitted to include your name on lists used by creditors or insurers to make firm offers of credit or insurance that are not initiated by you (“Firm Offers”). The number of creditors utilizing these lists has increased significantly in recent months. The result for consumers is lots of annoying phone calls.
There is some good news. While there is nothing Mutual Savings can do, our customers who do not wish to have their information sold can choose to opt out by going to: https://www.optoutprescreen.com. You may also desire to have your phone number listed on a Do Not Call list. This is a gov’t program designed to protect you from unwanted solicitation from telephone marketing companies. You can do this by visiting https://www.donotcall.gov/ and registering your phone number.
